We’re looking for someone naturally curious, highly organised, and persistent. Someone who enjoys chasing opportunities, solving problems, and turning engineer recommendations into completed work. This role sits at the center of how technical recommendations turn into customer outcomes and revenue. You’ll be trusted to take ownership of opportunities, work closely with engineers, and ensure no job is lost through lack of follow‑up or clarity. You’ll play a key role in connecting engineers, customers, and commercial outcomes, making sure work is clearly understood, confidently communicated, and successfully delivered.

Who Is This Role For

  • Professionals currently working in construction, building services, property maintenance, or technical sales environments
  • Technical or construction‑related graduates looking to build commercial experience
  • Former apprentices or engineers who want to move into a commercial, coordination, or office‑based role
  • Applicants with a technical apprenticeship or trade background are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with a defined list of engineers to help build and foster a collaborative partnership
  • Own and drive engineer‑generated opportunities from recommendation through to booking and completion
  • Proactively follow up on recommended works (typically up to £1000), converting estimates into confirmed jobs
  • Manage a high volume of customer interactions, delivering clear, professional, and confident communication
  • Negotiate with customers to secure bookings while managing expectations and maintaining trust
  • Work closely with engineers to understand the scope, urgency, and context of recommended works
  • Interpret technical recommendations and explain them clearly to customers
  • Use sound commercial judgement to balance customer needs, job value, urgency, and engineer availability
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records across CRM systems and Excel, including forecasts, pipelines, and outcomes
  • Monitor and progress all 'on hold' jobs, including those awaiting payment, materials, or further confirmation
  • Achieve individual and team sales targets and performance metrics
  • Handle all associated administration accurately and efficiently

Key Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a technical, sales, or service‑based role (ideally within construction, trades, or property maintenance)
  • Proven track record of achieving targets and delivering strong commercial or sales outcomes
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast‑paced environment
  • A naturally curious mindset, with the ability to understand customer needs and technical recommendations
  • Persistence and resilience when following up on opportunities and overcoming objections
  • Confident communicator with strong negotiation and influencing skills (written and verbal)
  • Comfortable using CRM systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, project managers, and internal teams
  • Customer‑focused approach, with the ability to build rapport and deliver a positive experience
  • Hands‑on understanding of trade work or site environments is highly valued

Career Development

This role offers early exposure to real commercial decision‑making, customer negotiation, and the financial impact of engineering work. You’ll develop the ability to interpret technical information, communicate it clearly, and influence outcomes, building a strong foundation for future roles across commercial operations, project coordination, account management, or broader business leadership. This role provides a strong pathway into a range of career opportunities, including:

  • Commercial operations and revenue management
  • Project coordination and delivery
  • Broader operational or leadership roles

You’ll gain practical experience in managing pipelines, working with technical teams, and driving revenue, skills that are highly transferable across the business.

Critical Success Factors

  • Consistent achievement or exceeding of revenue targets and KPIs
  • High conversion of engineer recommendations into booked and completed work
  • Timely, consistent follow‑up across all opportunities
  • Accurate and well‑managed pipeline and forecasting data
  • Strong collaboration with engineers and internal teams
  • Professional customer interactions that reflect professionalism and build long‑term trust
