ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Salary £ 45,000 – £50,000 depending on experience
Opportunity to join a busy, small but growing non-profit organisation that focuses on strengthening communities and increasing social connectedness. We do research to better understand people’s lived experiences of community life, run training and workshops for councils, co-design with communities, develop innovation projects and deliver behaviour change trials – all working towards having wide scale benefits to communities. We are a vibrant place to work, based in co-working space with other social-change organisations, and our focus on making a difference with every project.
We are hiring a Research and Development Manager in a full time position. This is a key role at an exciting time in the organisation, as we embed our new strategy and have realistic ambitions for growing our reach and impact.
Below is the role description, and the qualities and experiences we are looking for.
The roles/ responsibilities
- Lead on Research projects: Use a mix of qualitative methods fluently, some experience with data analysis and quantitative research.
- Start to End Project Management: Manage larger or more complex projects, with different stakeholder involvement. Managing multiple projects in parallel.
- Reporting, dissemination and amplification: Clear and consistent reporting for varied audiences – different storytelling techniques, visual presentation, ensuring \’client readiness\’ of all reports and materials.
- New Business development: Work closely with our Head of Growth to support in NBD, including proposal writing, pitching, new business meetings and seeking out new opportunities for the organisation (grants and potential clients)
- Innovation (Development): Work with Directors to support the development of our mission areas and designing new interventions to trial in communities. This may include: scoping of ideas, outreach, partnerships, development of grant proposals
- Capacity building of staff: run knowledge sharing/ training sessions, support in upskilling and development on projects that you work on together, provide feedback and development points in project wash-ups. As we grow, potential to manage more junior staff.
- Sector Knowledge: Develop specific sector area knowledge in the social connection space, linked with Neighbourly Lab’s Mission Areas. Share knowledge through internal sharing session, writing thought pieces/ presentations
- Client workshops development and facilitation: Support in ideation and development of workshop content and facilitation of workshops
The qualities of the person we need
- At least 5 years Research, Consultancy or Innovation experience
- Demonstrable experience of project management, client services and business development
- Excellent analysis and written skills
- Numerate and comfortable with quantitative analysis and organising data-sets
- Ability to think strategically and understand areas of cross over and opportunity within our mission areas (Inclusive Service Provision, Social Infrastructure and Accelerating Welcome)
- Resourceful, positive, flexible to take on new challenges
- Passion for achieving our mission of increasing social-connectedness and inclusion, for example with interest in migration, loneliness, community-cohesion, inclusive public-service provision etc
- Passionate about driving organisational growth and business development
- Enjoys fast paced environment working with a small team
- Happy to work in a hybrid way – minimum 3 days in office.
