Job Purpose
The Paraplanner is responsible for supporting the Wealth Planning team in the delivery of high-quality, compliant wealth planning advice to private clients.
Operating within a closely regulated environment, the role holder provides technical research, analysis, cashflow modelling, financial planning support, and report writing services to assist Wealth Planners in delivering suitable client recommendations and positive client outcomes. The role plays a key part in ensuring advice is technically robust, compliant with regulatory requirements, and aligned to client objectives.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide technical support to Wealth Planners throughout the financial planning process.
- Prepare and maintain high-quality suitability reports, recommendation documents, review reports, and supporting client communications.
- Conduct technical research and analysis to support financial planning recommendations relating to retirement planning, pensions, investments, protection, estate planning, and wealth structuring.
- Analyse client information and assist in the development of appropriate financial planning strategies aligned to client objectives.
- Prepare cashflow modelling and financial planning analysis to support client recommendations and ongoing reviews.
- Ensure advice documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and suitability standards.
- Support Wealth Planners in gathering and analysing client information required for advice and planning recommendations.
- Liaise with product providers, professional intermediaries, clients, and internal stakeholders to obtain information and progress client cases efficiently.
- Maintain accurate client records and documentation within relevant systems and ensure data quality standards are met.
- Assist with the implementation of financial planning recommendations and monitor progress through to completion.
- Keep up to date with industry developments, taxation considerations, regulatory changes, financial planning legislation, and product knowledge relevant to the role.
- Identify opportunities to improve advice processes, report quality, and operational efficiency.
- Work collaboratively with Wealth Planners, Wealth Advisers and specialist teams to ensure the effective delivery of client outcomes.
- Maintain high standards of professionalism, accuracy, and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
- Demonstrate a strong awareness of conduct risk and client outcomes when undertaking all activities.
- Undertake such additional tasks as may reasonably be required to support business and client outcomes.
Skills and Experience
- Experience working within a regulated financial planning, wealth management, private banking, or financial services environment.
- Proven experience in a Paraplanning or Financial Planning Support role.
- Strong technical knowledge of pensions, retirement planning, investments, protection, tax-efficient planning, and estate planning.
- Experience preparing suitability reports and supporting the delivery of regulated wealth planning advice.
- Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to interpret complex technical information and translate it into clear planning recommendations.
- Experience using cashflow modelling and financial planning software.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, governance, and conduct expectations within a wealth management environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable using CRM systems, financial planning tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with advisers and wider support teams.
- Demonstrates a proactive approach to learning, continuous improvement, and professional development.
Qualifications
- RDR Level 4 qualification or desire to work towards attaining this.
