As a Non-Executive Director, you will provide independent oversight, constructive challenge and strategic guidance, and act as a trusted sounding board for the Executive Leadership Team — sharing experience and offering practical advice as they assess opportunities, test ideas and develop the business, while helping ensure the group maintains the highest standards of governance, financial discipline and accountability.
Experience and qualifications required
- Board-level experience as a non-executive director
- Senior leadership experience, ideally within a local-authority trading company or comparable publicly-owned commercial environment
- Expertise in at least one relevant area:
- A business development / commercial background, with a track record of building or growing a business, winning customers, developing services or opening new markets — entrepreneurial experience welcomed, whether as a founder or through leading growth within an established organisation
- In-depth knowledge of financial management, audit and treasury, with the ability to assess financial and commercial performance
- Significant asset-management experience
- A proven track record of strategic planning and decision-making
- Strong understanding of corporate governance, risk management and regulatory compliance
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, sound judgement in balancing risk, cost, quality and social value, and the confidence to challenge constructively while maintaining collaborative relationships
- A commitment to high standards of governance, integrity and accountability, and to diversity, equity and inclusion
Desirable experience
- Expertise in one of: customer experience and engagement; environmental services; grounds and facilities; environmental sustainability; or communications, marketing and brand management
- Knowledge of the West London area and the public-services environment
