Overview

We are partnering with an award-winning, international Tier 1 main contractor to recruit a skilled Site Engineer for a landmark data centre project in the Netherlands. This is a career-defining opportunity to join one of Europe's most prestigious and technically challenging hyperscale developments, designed to meet the evolving needs of global digital infrastructure.

The Company

Our client is a market leader known for delivering complex, mission-critical facilities across Europe, fostering a collaborative culture, and investing heavily in staff development and retention. This project is a significant investment in the region, adding high-density capacity and playing a pivotal role in Europe's digital growth.

The Role

As a Site Engineer, you will be the technical backbone on the ground, taking ownership of setting-out, surveying, and quality control across the civil, structural, and architectural works. You will work closely with the project management and subcontractor teams to ensure that construction is delivered accurately, safely, and in line with design intent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting Out & Surveying: Taking primary responsibility for all site setting-out activities, using total stations, GPS, and laser levels to ensure precise alignment with drawings and specifications.
  • Quality Control: Monitoring works in progress to verify compliance with tolerances and standards, conducting regular inspections, and maintaining comprehensive site records and as-built documentation.
  • Technical Support: Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications, resolving technical queries on-site, and liaising with the design team to address any discrepancies or coordination issues.
  • Subcontractor Liaison: Guiding and checking subcontractor works to ensure technical accuracy, attending progress meetings, and assisting with the management of daily site operations.
  • Health & Safety: Championing a culture of safety on-site, ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with site HSE plans and risk assessments.

About You

You are a detail-oriented engineer with a strong background in construction surveying and setting out. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a keen eye for accuracy, particularly when working to tight tolerances.

Essential Requirements:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years experience in a site-based engineering role, ideally on large-scale civil or structural projects.
  • Proven proficiency with setting-out instruments (total stations, GPS, laser levels) and CAD software for drawing interpretation.
  • Strong understanding of construction techniques, concrete frame construction, and reinforced concrete details.
  • Experience working with subcontractors and managing quality assurance processes on-site.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Fluency in English is essential; Dutch language skills are an advantage but not required.

What We Offer

  • Career Progression: A clear pathway for professional growth within a company that promotes from within, with opportunities to move into senior engineering or management roles.
  • International Exposure: The chance to work on a high-profile, multi-phase project in a vibrant and welcoming European location.
  • Competitive Package: An attractive salary and overall benefits package, including performance-related bonuses, pension, and travel or accommodation allowances.
