Job Description

As a Senior DevOps Engineer with NEC Digital, you will be joining a highly skilled and proficient team that works on mission critical applications contributing to all phases of the DevOps and development process.

You will have the ability to manage and maintain the infrastructure supporting large scale public infrastructure helping to secure and maintain high levels of availability and integrity.

You must have lived in the UK for 5 consecutive years or more to be eligible for Security Clearance which is essential for the job.

Core Responsibilities:

1. Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Design and implement secure and scalable infrastructure using Terraform. Automate the provisioning and management of AWS resources.
2. Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Utilise Circle CI to set up pipelines for automated testing and deployment. Ensure smooth and frequent releases.
3. Version Control: Manage code and infrastructure changes using GitHub. Implement branching strategies and ensure code quality.
4. Monitoring and Performance: Use of monitoring solutions to track performance, uptime, and resource usage. Respond to and troubleshoot incidents.
5. Collaboration and Documentation: Work closely with development teams to understand needs and provide DevOps solutions. Document processes and systems.
6. Security and Compliance: Ensure that all infrastructure and applications meet security standards and comply with relevant regulations. Regularly review and update policies.
7. Optimisation and Scalability: Continuously evaluate and optimise system performance. Ensure scalability to handle growth and peak demand.
8. Research and Development: Stay updated with the latest technologies and trends in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, and automation. Suggest and implement improvements.

Qualifications

1. Experienced DevOps Engineer: Proven experience with AWS, Terraform, Circle CI, and GitHub. Understand the intricacies of CI/CD, IaC, and version control.
2. Scripting: Proficiency in Linux system administration and shell scripts.
3. Containerisation: Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and (optionally) orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
4. Problem Solver: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Adept at diagnosing and resolving complex issues.
5. Communicator and Collaborator: Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Understand the importance of documentation and clear processes.
6. Learner and Innovator: Passionate about staying up to date with the latest technological advancements and eager to implement innovative solutions.
7. Security-Conscious: Prioritise the security of infrastructure and applications. Knowledgeable about best practices and regulatory requirements.
8. Detail focused: Pays attention to details and makes a conscious effort to understand causes instead of just the effects.
9. Big picture aware: Understands the scope and impact of a problem or solution.
