As a Business Intelligence (BI) Software Development Manager, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of BI solutions leveraging tools like Power BI and cloud platforms such as Azure. Your role will include managing a team of developers and working closely with stakeholders to deliver data-driven insights that support strategic decision-making. You will also integrate DevOps practices to streamline and enhance the BI development process. This is a home-based role, our ideal candidate would be commutable to Nottingham or Hemel Hempstead.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of BI developers and data analysts. Manage project timelines, set performance goals, and ensure the team meets business and technical objectives.
- BI development: Oversee the creation of scalable and efficient BI solutions using Microsoft Power BI, ensuring they meet the end-user requirements for analytics and reporting.
- Cloud Integration: Utilise Azure cloud services to optimize data storage, processing, and analytics capabilities. Ensure the secure and compliant use of cloud technologies.
- DevOps Integration: Implement DevOps practices in the BI development process to improve deployment frequency and ensure dependable releases in close alignment with business objectives.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with business stakeholders to define BI goals, understand core business processes, and translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Data Strategy and Governance: Develop strategies for data acquisition, storage, analysis, and visualization. Ensure adherence to data governance and compliance standards.
- Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in BI, cloud, and DevOps technologies. Recommend and implement improvements to BI tools and processes.
- Resource Management: Manage budgets and allocate resources effectively to meet BI project needs and maximize return on investment.
Qualifications Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in BI development, including hands-on experience with Power BI or similar tools.
- Strong experience with Azure cloud services and understanding of cloud architecture and deployment.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and how they apply to BI development processes.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and multi-disciplinary projects.
- Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Certifications in Microsoft Power BI, Azure, or relevant DevOps certifications.
- Experience with other BI tools (such as Tableau or Qlik) and data integration technologies.
- Background in data science or analytics, with practical knowledge of statistical methods and data analysis techniques.
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
