Overview
In this role, you will enhance and operate NEC’s observability solution for Local and Central Government applications.
You will implement monitoring standards for new customers and drive ongoing improvements to the monitoring posture.
You’ll combine technical observability expertise with analytical and communication skills to deliver actionable insights and guide teams.
This position supports cross-functional collaboration, with remote or hybrid work options and a focus on security, compliance, and scalability.

Responsibilities
- Maintain and upgrade monitoring platform components (agents, collectors, probes) and ensure availability
- Design and implement monitoring for applications, databases, servers; refine thresholds, dashboards, and data quality
- Drive service improvement by reviewing effectiveness, identifying gaps, and proposing new capabilities
- Collaborate with application owners, infrastructure teams, product SMEs, and service managers; document and upskill teams on observability
- Key requirements
- Proven experience as Observability Engineer/SRE/Platform Engineer
- Strong knowledge of monitoring, logging, and alerting with Splunk, Datadog or similar
- Hands-on experience instrumenting applications with metrics, logs, and traces
- Understanding of on-prem and cloud infrastructure, networking basics, databases, APIs
- Automation experience with Power Shell, Python, Terraform
- Ability to analyze complex systems and provide actionable recommendations
