Position Overview The Failsafe Officer is a Full Time, Fixed Term Contract for 12 months. The Failsafe Officer quality assurance processes are responsible for the oversight of patient management from front‑end registration to ensuring adequate database validation and cleansing.
Responsibilities:
- Provide telephone support for patients regarding their appointments, including booking, rearrangement and cancellation of appointments in accordance with programme requirements.
- Validate and cleanse the single collated list.
- Oversee the patient cohort to ensure all patients are accounted for and regularly audited (including, but not limited to, opted out, medically unfit, not diabetic and pregnant).
- This includes liaising with stakeholders involved with patient care such as GPs, practice nurses and administrative teams, diabetologists, obstetricians and paediatricians.
- Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure that all patients are in the correct pathway, supported by systematic auditing and tracking.
- Liaise with Hospital Eye Services to ensure patients referred receive an initial appointment within NDESP criteria and track their status, ensuring they return to the care of the DESP on discharge from the hospital eye services.
Qualifications:
- Excellent IT skills and a working understanding of Microsoft Office software.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Microsoft Excel experience and basic data management.
- Ability to work under own initiative without close supervision, prioritise workload against competing priorities, use problem‑solving skills and maintain effectiveness sometimes under pressure.
- Minimum of 2 GCSEs – Grades A to C in English and Maths or equivalent qualification.
- Successful applicants will be required to undertake a standard disclosure with the Disclosure & Barring Service upon entry and thereafter every 3 years.
