The Lead/Senior Software Engineer - Full stack will be responsible for owning the design, development, and delivery of end-to-end platform capabilities across frontend, backend, and data layers. This role requires deep expertise across modern web technologies, including React / Next.js, Node.js APIs, PostgreSQL, cloud infrastructure, and integration platforms. The individual will take ownership of architectural decisions, drive best practice across the engineering team, and ensure delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions. The role also includes driving innovation through AI integration, improving engineering workflows, and ensuring that platform capabilities translate into tangible product value.

Essential Skillset

  • Strong experience in full stack development using React, Next.js (App Router), Node.js, and TypeScript
  • Proven expertise in frontend architecture, including SSR, ISR, caching, and performance optimisation
  • Strong backend development experience building REST APIs and backend-for-frontend (BFF) services
  • Experience designing and managing PostgreSQL databases, schemas, and performance tuning
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and deployment tooling (CI/CD pipelines, GitHub)
  • Strong understanding of system architecture, scalability, and distributed systems
  • Experience implementing authentication and authorisation models (e.g. Auth0, RBAC)
  • Strong experience with modern UI frameworks, including Tailwind / component libraries / design systems
  • Experience integrating third-party services and enterprise platforms
  • Understanding of security best practices, secrets management, and compliance requirements
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments
  • Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills

Desirable Skillset

  • Experience with serverless architecture and microservices
  • Experience with event-driven systems and message queues
  • Exposure to data engineering pipelines or analytics platforms
  • Experience with AI/ML frameworks or LLM integrations
  • Knowledge of DevOps best practices and Infrastructure as Code
  • Experience working in enterprise or regulated environments (e.g. NHS, DSPT compliance)

Qualifications

  • Strong commercial experience in full stack software engineering is essential; a degree in Computer Science or related discipline is advantageous but not required
