This multinational industrial business services group operates in over 30 countries and has a global tax team of four people. It has a prime Central London HQ where employees are based three days a week. Reporting to the Head of Tax, you will personally lead on UK VAT matters and global indirect tax compliance. As part of the role, you will be a key business partner, providing indirect tax advisory expertise to stakeholders around the world. Furthermore, you will support with corporate tax compliance and group tax reporting at peak periods in the annual cycle.
Responsibilities will include:
- Manage VAT compliance for UK Group companies including returns and monthly payments.
- Manage international indirect tax compliance risk for all overseas companies including VAT, GST, service tax, sales taxes, and Customs duties.
- Provide ongoing support to Group’s Finance on all VAT, GST, and other indirect tax matters relevant to their regions, including offering indirect tax guidance, reviewing cross-border transactions for indirect tax implications, and monitoring legislative changes.
- Ensure proper indirect tax documentation is prepared and maintained.
- Ensure all VAT/GST processes are properly documented and that indirect tax treatment of all material income streams and expenses are understood.
- Provide guidance on the VAT implications of unusual transactions, including those arising from mergers and acquisitions.
- Lead the indirect tax component of the internal desktop tax audit programme.
- Support tax technology projects that will be rolled out across various regions such as e-invoicing.
- Provide relevant indirect tax training to finance and business colleagues to ensure they understand their compliance obligations.
- Assist the UK Senior Tax Manager with corporate tax compliance for all UK parent companies, preparing corporation tax returns, and managing the UK group’s quarterly instalment payment process.
- Support with the Group’s Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) obligations.
- Assist with Group tax reporting, including the review of international tax packs and the preparation of year-end tax adjustments.
- Assist the Head of Tax with ad hoc projects and advice regarding group tax issues such as Withholding Tax and Transfer Pricing.
