About the role

Neathouse Partners is continuing to grow following a record-breaking 2025, and we are looking to appoint a qualified Employment Law Solicitor to support our expanding client base. This is a commercial, employer-facing advisory role, suited to a solicitor or CILEx-qualified lawyer who enjoys providing clear, pragmatic employment law advice to business owners and senior managers. Our clients choose Neathouse Partners because they value having access to a qualified employment lawyer who can explain legal risk clearly and help them make confident, proportionate decisions.

About Neathouse Partners

We provide fixed-fee employment law, HR, and health & safety support to SMEs and growing businesses across the UK. Our model removes billing uncertainty and allows our lawyers to focus on delivering practical, commercially grounded advice, rather than managing chargeable hours.

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing your own client base and providing day-to-day employment law advice to employers, including:
  • Advising on employee relations matters such as disciplinaries, grievances, dismissals, absence management, and performance
  • Supporting redundancy and TUPE processes
  • Advising on discrimination and unfair dismissal risk, with a focus on prevention and proportionate decision-making
  • Drafting contracts of employment, handbooks, policies, and practical day-to-day correspondence
  • Helping clients understand what they can do, what the risks are, and how best to proceed

This role involves regular client contact and requires confidence in giving clear, decisive advice to non-lawyers.

What we’re looking for

We are keen to hear from solicitors or CILEx-qualified lawyers who:

  • Have experience advising employers on employment law matters
  • Are comfortable working in a fixed-fee, SME-focused advisory environment
  • Can balance legal risk with commercial reality and explain both clearly
  • Prefer practical, outcome-focused advice over overly technical or process-heavy approaches
  • Are confident managing their own caseload and client relationships

We will also consider exceptional candidates who are not formally qualified, where they can clearly demonstrate:

  • Significant experience advising employers on employment law matters, and
  • The ability to provide clear, commercially grounded advice at a level equivalent to a qualified lawyer.

This role may not be right for you if:

  • You default to full formal processes in most situations
  • You are uncomfortable advising employers to make lawful but difficult decisions
  • You prefer litigation, advocacy, or settlement-led work
  • You rely heavily on best-practice HR frameworks rather than legal judgement
  • You are looking for a traditional law firm or billable-hours environment

What we offer

  • No billing targets or business development requirements
  • A supportive, collaborative team culture
  • Ongoing professional development and training
  • Optional private medical insurance following probation
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • A healthy work-life balance with realistic workload expectations
