About the role:

We are currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Training Advisor in Hairdressing and Barbering. NPT Skills & Training Unit operate within Neath Port Talbot and across South Wales, delivering work based learning programmes, providing vocational training and learning. We work within schools and specialist units, with post 16 young people and employed apprentices across several sectors. NPT Skills & Training are constantly developing their provision and are a growing team, providing many opportunities for staff to develop their own skills, experience and progress internally. Staff development programmes are available to staff to further enhance their career.

As a Training Advisor in Hairdressing and Barbering, you will support a range of learners across our projects and programmes in schools, our centres and out in our apprentices\’ workplaces to train, support and assess our learners to reach their full potential and achieve their goals and qualifications. This role requires a high degree of occupationally specific knowledge and requires you to have current and up to date hairdressing and barbering skills.

Your daily routine will:

  • Design, plan and deliver training sessions both in centre and off-site, based on course or qualification requirements, providing engaging and informative resources and practical sessions, that supports a variety of learning styles and maximises impact and achievement.
  • Assess and internally verify learner skills/competence and technical knowledge to recognised national standards and provide feedback appropriately to ensure learner achievement and development.
  • Manage an allocated caseload of learners within the sector, ensuring they are fully inducted, reviewed, supported and meet the expectations of the programme.
  • Support NPT Skills & Training to identify new opportunities for learners, such as suitable placements, source apprentices and engage with new employers to recruit apprentices onto programmes with NPT Skills & Training.
  • Ensure that you complete all required documentation in place for the monitoring and achievement of learner\’s goals and qualifications.

About you:

Do you have:

  • A minimum of Level 3 in a vocational qualification (e.g. NVQ) in Hairdressing and Barbering
  • A minimum of 3 years\’ experience working in the hairdressing and/or barbering industry in a salon or similar environment, with up to date and current knowledge of new styles, treatments and techniques
  • Possess TAQA/A1 or similar assessor award
  • Possess TAQA/V1 or similar or willing to work towards an internal verifier award
  • Experience of delivering training to pupils, young people and/or adults either in a class environment or in the workplace
  • Experience of delivering work based learning/vocational and knowledge qualifications and assessment/quality assurance of qualifications.

Competences and qualifications in beauty/beauty therapy would also be advantageous.
