Overview

Two new Planners to join our expanding Development Management team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to gain experience within a progressive authority and to develop your career in Neath Port Talbot. Hybrid working (in some roles) and flexible working schemes to improve your work-life balance. Salary: £37,280.00 - £40,777.00 per annum plus a market pay supplement.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake all duties associated with the statutory development management service for the Authority and any related appeals and enforcement, while securing quality and efficient outcomes.
  • Process planning and related applications in accordance with the Authority’s aims of approving quality development quickly.
  • Carry out statutory and informal consultations and advertise applications, including site notices.
  • Informal consultation and negotiation with applicants, developers and other public and professional bodies.
  • Prepare Committee and Delegated reports on planning and related applications.
  • Provide advice to the public on planning and related applications.
  • Negotiate the delivery of planning obligations in accordance with National and Local policies as defined in the development plan and SPGs.
  • Process planning appeals, including preparation of appeal statements, attendance at site visits and giving evidence at hearings and public inquiries.
  • Ideal candidate will have: planning qualification to RTPI standard or working towards qualification or equivalent planning experience.

Qualifications

  • A Planning qualification to RTPI standard, or working towards qualification or equivalent Planning experience.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills, and a strong commitment to customer care; ability to travel throughout the County Borough.
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic in delivering high-quality development quickly; able to work as part of a team or independently while managing a caseload; commitment to continual professional development.
