We are seeking a forward-thinking, strategic leader to join our Street Care Services Team as the Waste Services Manager. This is a high-profile frontline role where you will help shape the direction of services used by every resident in Neath Port Talbot, while playing a vital part in driving up recycling performance and reducing waste.
As the Waste Services Manager, you will lead the development and delivery of the Council’s waste management policy and strategy, while overseeing the day-to-day operation of the waste and recycling service to ensure statutory recycling and compliance targets are met. You will provide clear direction to a large multi-disciplinary workforce, driving performance, guiding change and supporting continuous improvement. Alongside this, you will manage complex logistics, maintain high operational standards and ensure resilience in a fast-paced, politically visible and safety-critical environment.
About you
- Significant experience of managing large-scale operational services and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong knowledge of waste legislation, environmental regulations and local/national waste strategy.
- Proven ability to manage large budgets, contracts and performance targets.
- Experience leading change programmes and navigating complex, politically sensitive services.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Commitment to safety, compliance, sustainability and high-quality service delivery.
- A relevant degree (or equivalent) and substantial experience in managing critical frontline services.
