Location of post: Neath Civic Centre, SA11 3QZ

Your workstyle will be a mobile hybrid worker in this role which gives you the flexibility to work from home and from a variety of Council workplaces.

Neath Port Talbot’s Children and Young People Services are continuing to make solid progress providing quality, supportive services and effectively managing risk for those children and families who are in need, in need of protection, and who are ‘looked after’ by Neath Port Talbot, using bespoke, creative andoutcome focused plans. We are proud to have a strong and stable management team; training, developing and supporting staff remains a high priority throughout the service.

We are currently looking for an experienced social work practitioner to join the Conference and Review Service as an Independent Reviewing Officer.

As an Independent Reviewing Officer, you will provide a quality assurance role across Children’s and Young People’s Services, responsible for monitoring all looked after children and young people, children who are placed for adoption, and young people who are subject to Pathway reviews. You will also undertake a safeguarding role and chair all child protection conferences.

You must have significant post qualification practice and have a good understanding and knowledge of all legislation and guidance relation to Child Protection and Looked After Children. You should have experience of chairing meetings of a challenging nature, and child protection within the court arena.

You will carry a caseload, chair Child Protection conferences and Looked After Children review meetings and support other agreed processes within the service such as Pathway Plan Reviews and case file audits.

Your daily routine will involve engaging with children and young people and their parents, and partner agencies, arranging and chairing meetings, and producing child centred records. You will also contribute to panels and meetings across the wider service.

Do you have a relevant qualification in Social Work and registration with Social Care Wales?

Are you a skilled communicator, with experience of working in a child centred way?
