What we are looking for:
The successful candidate will have the ability to work with young people and colleagues to deliver a range of activities at the youth club. You will need to be highly motivated, organised and have the skill to develop activities in a fun and safe environment that involves young people at all levels. No experience of delivering youth work is required at this stage however, the successful candidate will be required to complete the relevant youth work qualification within two years of commencing this role. When this qualification is achieved registration with the Education Workforce Council will be required.
The main duties of the post:
- Deliver projects and activities in line with Citizenship, Art, Sport, Health and Welsh, which includes DoE and youth forums.
- Support young people to become involved in the design, delivery and evaluation of services and activities at the youth club.
- Ensure that local authority policies and procedures are observed in respect to safeguarding, equal opportunities and health and safety.
- Inform the Worker in Charge of any concerns regarding grievances, complaints, incident and or accidents or safeguarding issues.
- Complete all relevant youth club paperwork in accordance with the local authorities procedures and policies.
- Attend three pre term meetings per year.
- Maintain up to date knowledge in the field of Youth and Community Work through undertaking training including the three per term training events.
- Deliver projects and or activities which broaden horizons and promote community cohesion.
- Attend Employment Development Reviews annually and identify training and development needs.
You will have experience in/of:
- Working with young people between the ages of 11 – 24 in a variety of settings.
Ideally you will have:
- Knowledge of the purposes and principles of the youth work curriculum statement for Wales.
- The relevant national youth work qualification required for registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
- 4 GCE/GCSEs (Grades A-C) or equivalent.
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) before employment commences is mandatory.
