Job descriptionContract Type: Fixed Term post until 28/02/2026 due to SPF Funding
Hours:Part Time 2.5 hours per week, Monday 5:45 to 8:15 pm
Location of post: Vernon Place Community Hub, Vernon Place Briton Ferry Neath SA11 2JJ

What we are looking for:
The successful candidate will need to have the ability to develop a broad curriculum of activities at the club in line with Citizenship, Art, Sport, Health & Welsh which provides information, guidance and advice to young people. You will need to be able to build and develop professional working relationships with young people colleagues and partners and manage and develop the youth club to become a fun and safe environment which aids social inclusion and participation.
A minimum of 2 years\' youth work experience is required and the successful candidate will be required to complete the relevant youth work qualification within two years of commencing this role. When this qualification is achieved registration with the Education Workforce Council will be required.
The main duties of the post;
- Build professional relationships with young people
- Facilitate the personal, social and emotional development of young people
- Enable young people to organise and take increasing responsibility for activities, events and projects
- Work in partnership with young people and agencies
- Support and development a small team
- Work in accordance with the purposes and principles of the Youth Work Curriculum Statement for Wales
- Plan, manage and develop youth work
- To be able to diffuse difficult situations
- To be able to make decisions, have good organisational skills and ensure accurate data collection
You will have experience in/of;
A minimum of two years youth work experience with young people aged 11 to 25.
Ideally you will have;
- Knowledge of the purposes and principles of the youth work curriculum statement for Wales
- Knowledge of the services available to young people in Neath Port Talbot and surrounding areas.
- The relevant national youth work qualification required for registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
When this youth work qualification is achieved registration with the Education Workforce Council will be required.
