We are currently seeking a positive, proactive and well organised individual to join our team as an Education Transport Officer (ALN Focus). You will be joining the Education Transport Team at an exciting time, as we are undertaking a comprehensive review of our current services and provision to ensure we deliver the best possible outcomes for children and young people. This is a growing and forward‑thinking team where your ideas and contributions will shape how services are delivered in the future.

As an Education Transport Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the efficient day‑to‑day operation of education transport services, with a particular focus on ALN transport provision. You will lead on assessing the needs and eligibility of ALN service user applications and help ensure that learners receive appropriate and reliable travel assistance in line with policy and their individual needs.

Your daily routine will include:

  • Reviewing and assessing learner travel assistance applications
  • Liaising with schools, families and professional colleagues to coordinate support
  • Providing advice and guidance on education transport processes
  • Maintaining accurate data and records
  • Supporting the handling of appeals and queries
  • Contributing to ongoing service improvements within the team

We would welcome those with experience in the following roles: Education Transport Officer, ALN Officer, School Admissions or Attendance Officer, Passenger Transport Coordinator, Family Support Worker, or roles within education, local authority services or customer service environments where coordination and casework are key.

Key skills required:

  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload
  • Experience of working with children and young people, particularly those with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), or an understanding of their needs
  • The ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and guidance to real situations
  • Experience of working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including schools, families and professionals
  • Good administrative skills, with experience of maintaining accurate records and using data systems
  • A proactive, positive approach with excellent problem solving skills
