The predicted salary is between 33699 - 37280 £ per year.

As an Education Transition Worker you will work directly with young people to support transitions into school, collaborating with the Local Authority Child and Family Support Team, LAC Coordinator, Wellbeing & Behaviour Service, and education settings. Your aim is to improve transition, engagement and reduce the risk of further exclusions for the following groups:

  • Children/young people moving into the LA and in‑year transfers with complex needs
  • Children/young people who have been permanently excluded from school within the LA
  • Children/young people who are looked after and moving into the LA

Responsibilities

  • Provide intensive, direct support to pupils
  • Support pupils to identify key staff in school who can offer support
  • Use person‑centred tools to identify needs, likes and dislikes, and what is working well or what needs to change
  • Support pupils and their families in transition visits to a new school
  • Work with other agencies to ensure needs are met

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience of working within a school, LA or other educational setting
  • Experience in delivering interventions to children presenting with a range of social, emotional, behavioural needs
  • Understanding of school systems to support children and young people within and returning to education
  • Ability to work well under pressure, exercise thoughtful judgement and display tact and sensitivity
  • Minimum education qualification of GCSE in four subjects at grade C or above, including English or Welsh and Mathematics, or a comparable Level 3 qualification or equivalent occupational experience
  • Experience in education support roles or youth work or social care is welcomed

Salary & Working Hours

Cyflog: SCP 22-26, £33,699.00 – £37,280.00 pro rata per annum. Term time only. Maternity cover 1 September 2026 to 20 July 2027.
