We’re looking for a skilled Vehicle Technician who takes pride in delivering high-quality work and keeping our workshop running smoothly. In this role, you’ll be responsible for inspecting and servicing vehicles to the highest standards.

What You’ll Bring

  • You will have specialist knowledge and hands-on experience working with a variety of vehicle manufacturers, particularly across light goods vehicles and light HGVs up to 7.5 tonnes.

Main duties of the job

Working for our organisation North East Ambulance Service Unified Solutions (NEASUS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (NEAS) which covers an area of around 3,230 square miles and serves a population of more than 2.71 million people. NEASUS are made up of a team of experts with extensive knowledge and experience in the following areas:

  • Fleet Management - Continuous and consistent awareness of the status of all operational vehicles across your fleet to make informed management and operational decisions.
  • Vehicle Servicing & Repairs - Commercial vehicle and van servicing and repairs, carried out by our highly trained technicians.
  • Fleet Fitting & Equipment - Vehicles equipped according to regulatory and clinical best practice to perform a specific care response.

Person specification

  • The post holder must be experienced in maintaining Cars, CDV’s, Passenger Service Vehicles and Goods vehicles up to 7.5 Tonnes.
  • The post holder must be a fully qualified motor vehicle technician.
  • The post holder must have specialist knowledge of motor vehicle electrical systems & mechanical components.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of a range of computer-based vehicle diagnostic systems and the ability to analyse and interpret the information presented by the systems to determine the most appropriate repair option.
  • Have the ability to diagnose all other vehicle faults without access to diagnostic equipment.
  • Knowledge of vehicle legislation & Health & Safety Legislation and to be able to demonstrate what PPE is required whilst carrying out their duties.
  • Knowledge of tail lift systems, their operation and repair.
  • Experience of working with a Vehicle Fleet Management Systems.
  • Experience of vehicle carnation systems, ideally blue light systems.
  • Experience of working in a fleet management environment.
