We’re hiring a QA Automation Engineer to help transition from primarily manual testing to a modern, automation-first quality approach. This is a hands-on role where you’ll shape testing strategy, build frameworks, and improve release confidence across the product. You’ll work closely with engineering, product, and operations to ensure software is reliable, testable, and delivered efficiently.
What You’ll Do
- Own and evolve the test automation strategy across unit, integration, and end-to-end layers
- Build and maintain automated tests for both frontend (React) and backend (Node/TypeScript)
- Develop a robust E2E testing suite using Playwright (or similar)
- Expand unit and integration coverage using Jest and API testing tools
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines with fast feedback and clear reporting
- Improve system testability (architecture, selectors, observability, test hooks)
- Manage test data, environments, fixtures, and mocks to reduce flaky tests
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define acceptance criteria and reduce regressions
- Support and improve manual QA processes during the transition to automation
Experience Needed:
- Proven experience building automation for modern web applications
- Hands-on experience with Playwright (or similar) and Jest (or equivalent)
- Experience testing both UI and API layers
- Practical experience with CI pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions)
- Strong focus on reliability, stability, and actionable test outcomes
Nice to Have
- Experience writing automation in TypeScript
- Knowledge of contract testing, component testing, or performance testing
- Familiarity with Docker-based test environments and databases (PostgreSQL/MongoDB)
- Experience in regulated industries (e.g. fintech, payroll)
- Experience supporting teams transitioning from manual to automated testing
