Our client is a pioneering software scale-up reshaping the tech landscape within their sector. Already powering customers across the UK and US, their intelligent SaaS platform enables organisations to streamline operations, unlock efficiency, and scale with confidence. With major new investment flowing into technology, the business is now doubling down on innovation — building a brand-new, high-impact technology innovation function designed to accelerate product development, unlock new commercial opportunity, and drive platform scale.

This role is your chance to define the blueprint and lead from the front. As Engineering Director – Technology Innovation, you’ll spearhead a newly created engineering squad tasked with launching scalable software products, platform enhancements and bespoke solutions for enterprise customers. Working directly with the C-suite, product leaders and enterprise partners, you’ll take ideas from concept to cloud-native, revenue-driving software at speed.

What you’ll lead & shape:

  • Build and lead a full-stack engineering squad focused on SaaS product innovation
  • Define and own the technical direction for greenfield developments and strategic platform enhancements
  • Translate commercial opportunities into deliverable software with measurable customer and revenue impact
  • Champion modern cloud-first engineering (Azure, microservices, automation, CI/CD, API-led architectures)
  • Drive efficiency, scalability, and technical excellence — ensuring the platform can support significant user and data growth
  • Influence roadmap, product strategy and investment decisions at C-level and with external stakeholders

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven leadership of product-led SaaS engineering teams (circa 10–20+ engineers)
  • Strong hands-on experience across .NET Core, Angular, Azure, REST APIs, and SQL/NoSQL
  • Deep architectural capability, balancing speed with scale, performance and quality
  • Commercial fluency with experience shaping enterprise technology outcomes
  • Agile mindset with a track record of iterative delivery, embedded quality and automation (e.g. TDD, CI/CD, Scrum)

Why this is a rare opportunity:

  • Significant investment going into tech with innovation treated as a strategic growth engine, not a side project
  • Set the tone for how the company scales its product suite globally over the coming years
  • Lead an initially lean capability with the ability to grow headcount, product scope and impact as the market expands
  • Work directly with UK & US business leadership
