A repeat client within the visual AI space are once again hiring thanks to growth and continued investment and are looking for a Computer Vision Team Lead to join their engineering squad. Due to the firm's size, you'll be reporting into both UK and EU-based individuals (CET so +1 hour of time difference) and working predominantly remotely from the UK.
They're looking for someone who will take ownership of the end-to-end AI lifecycle all the way from data ingestion to having live production-ready models within their global client base. It's a genuinely exciting time to join quite a dynamic and forward-thinking client who have made a good name for themselves and who have an excellent reputation on the market.
The Role
This is a dual mandate position: you are both the technical authority and the people leader for the AI/ML function. You'll have significant autonomy to structure the team, define ways of working, and set the engineering standards.
On the leadership side, you'll be managing and growing a team of AI/ML engineers across the UK and EU. That means hands-on line management, regular 1:1s, performance development, and direct involvement in hiring. Building the team is part of the job as is acting as the strategic bridge between AI research, core engineering, and product, ensuring technical work translates into commercial outcomes.
On the technical side, you'll own the full AI production pipeline: automated data collection, data organisation and labelling strategy, scalable training workflows, and ultimately deployment of production-grade Computer Vision models under real-world constraints: latency, resource limitations, and high reliability standards across diverse client environments. This is not a research-only or experimentation role; the emphasis is firmly on production delivery at scale.
Technical Requirements
- Deep hands-on expertise in Computer Vision - object detection, segmentation, tracking, and transformer-based architectures
- Strong Python and C++ - comfortable at the systems level optimising pipelines for throughput and latency
- Proven track record delivering ML/CV systems into production at significant scale - you've ideally broken / seen things break and you know how to build them to last
- Experience designing and managing end-to-end ML pipelines from raw data through to deployed model
Leadership Requirements
- Previous experience managing or leading a team of engineers - this is a non-negotiable for this position.
- Experienced hiring and assessing Computer Vision talent as well as being a natural mentor who takes the development of their team seriously
- Able to set and enforce standards around code quality, MLOps, and delivery without micromanaging
- Comfortable operating across time zones and working with distributed, international teams
To summarise: If you're a senior CV/ML engineer who has grown into leadership and wants a role where both dimensions are genuinely valued and importantly, where you have the autonomy to build something properly then this could be worth a conversation.
Please note this role cannot offer visa sponsorship.
