Are you looking to level up your career in NDT? Are you interested in a role that transforms your knowledge on the tools into a more QA focused remit? NDT Personnel is working with a well-renowned name in the rail sector of NDT; a business with hungry plans for expansion and significant investment in its staff, and a company that isn't content to standstill and has a vision for 'big things.'

Due to the plans for growth, the company seeks someone who can act as the technical authority and caretake the NDT department, as well as putting their own stamp on ensuring a well-organised department, with governance, compliance and continuous improvement at the forefront of every decision and across all inspection activities.

Reporting to the Head of Technical, you'll look after a small team of NDT technicians whilst directly influencing certification through working in conjunction with an outside L3, ensuring compliance and product integrity, as well as combining technical oversight and focusing on your strong people leadership skills. Currently, the company has capability of VT, MT, PT, and UT, and is interested in further expanding its remit to ET, too; it should be noted, however, that there is a very small percentage of inspection duties required in this role (around 10% of the job), and the central focus is on quality assurance, auditing, compliance, and technical development.

The person:

  • Experience of working in conjunction with PCN L2 VT, MT, PT, and UT (ideally all 4, but the company is willing to keep an open mind for the right person)
  • Proven experience of working at team leader / supervisor / manager level within NDT operations
  • Thorough knowledge of the requirements of ISO 9712 (PCN) and relevant BS EN / ISO standards
  • Experience of working in quality assurance / quality focused tasks within NDT with proven experience of external audits
  • Passionate about NDT and keen to develop your skills and work towards achieving Level 3's
  • Motivated and confident leader of people with plenty of drive and enthusiasm to go around!

Ideal skills / knowledge / experience:

  • Experience of working in accordance with PCN L2 ET would be useful for future development plans
  • Ideally hold a L3 in one or more of the methods mentioned would be useful, but not a pre-requisite of being considered for the role
  • Experience of working within railway or structural sectors (e.g. BS EN 15085, RIS-2701) is desirable

The working hours are Mon-Thursday 7-3.30pm and Friday 7-12pm, and the role attracts a salary of £60k, offers 25 days holiday + stats, offers 4% matched pension contribution, a death in service benefit of 3x annual salary, and training and development opportunities, including support for L3 / welding qualifications.

This is the ideal role for someone who has spent time working within QA and wants to pursue a career with a business willing to personally invest in them, with clear pathways for career progression. If you're interested in applying to this exciting opportunity and would like to have a confidential, in-depth discussion about the position, please send your CV to Leanne Evans, NDT Operations Manager.
