nDreams Studio Elevation is re-establishing the boundaries of VR. We’re looking for an exceptionally talented Lighting Artist to help us explore, create, and deliver world-leading innovation in software and VR hardware. With our first title nearing release and a second in early planning stages, it’s a great time to join our fully remote, VR-first studio.
As a lighting artist, you will work closely with the art team to create and refine lighting and shading elements within the game, helping to enhance the visual atmosphere across various scenes and environments.
The rundown:
- 12 month fixed term contract
- Full time (37.5 hours per week)
- Fully remote within the UK
- Salary is competitive and dependent on experience
Key responsibilities:
- Lighting levels in an optimised way that works across multiple platforms, including Quest VR.
- Ensuring clear golden path lighting that guides the player through their objectives and highlights points of interest.
- Working closely with the Art Director and Leads to develop and follow the artistic vision.
- Collaborating with other departments to help create memorable and captivating visuals.
- Creating and maintaining lighting documentation.
Requirements
The skills you’ll need:
- Proficiency in industry-standard lighting tools and software (e.g. Unreal Engine)
- Worked with Baked Lighting Pipelines
- Knowledgeable on PBR Workflow
- A working knowledge of materials and environment art that is connected to lighting (lightmaps, HDRI setup, material lighting modes, light functions, etc)
- Optimization of lighting performance to maintain baking times and frame rates across platforms.
The nice to haves:
- Adobe Photoshop and/or Substance Designer knowledge for texture editing.
- Lighting Technical Art knowledge.
