nDreams Studio Elevation are re-establishing the boundaries of VR. We’re looking for an exceptionally talented Senior UI Artist to help us explore, create, and deliver world leading innovation in software and VR hardware. With our first title nearing release and a second in early planning stages, it’s a great time to join our fully remote, VR-first studio.
The rundown:
- 12 month fixed term contract
- Full time (37.5 hours per week)
- Fully remote within the UK
- Salary is competitive and dependent on experience
Key responsibilities:
- Implement art direction for delivery on time and to standard, maintaining oversight beyond handoff to ensure art assets stay true to concept and project.
- Deliver UI solutions for our games, demonstrating clear visual language, awareness and implementation of User Experience considerations.
- Research and produce definitive mood-boards, storyboards, wireframes and prototype UIs that illustrate user flows, functions and visual goals.
- Design and produce visually appealing and optimised art assets for use in game UI.
- Use Unreal UMG and blueprints to create working flows, animate and build functionality into UI widgets.
- Mentor others to share experience and skillsets, and helps to build the level of quality.
The skills you’ll need:
- Competent with demonstrable versatility in digital techniques, focusing on Graphic Design, dynamic layout, composition, colour theory, and typography.
- Use core Adobe software (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Adobe XD) to a highly proficient level.
- Awareness for UI/UX principles.
- Can, with autonomy, build upon and interpret new content within any given art direction to deliver a cohesive aesthetic.
- Able to employ a clear design process building assets from initial brief to execution in UI.
- Displays an interest and understanding of the Digital Games Entertainment Software industry, and how good UI plays a role.
- Ability to develop visual ideas, critique others’ work respectfully and to react positively to constructive feedback to reach a satisfying solution.
- Can create inventive solutions to design and wider developmental questions.
- Can use good judgement and draw on experience to quickly explore and iterate ideas.
- Effective time management, verbal and written communication and achieving a required level of finish within a given time frame.
- A consistent attitude to deliver an effective environment conducive to mentoring.
- Consistently strive to maintain or exceed the highest quality standards of the company with excellent attention to detail.
The nice to haves:
- At least 2 years’ experience in an industry UI role.
- Experience with Unreal UMG and other game engines.
- Working knowledge of software such as Maya and Houdini.
- Demonstrable Graphic Design ability.
- Technical knowledge and skills relating to UI production and associated competencies.
- Experience in working within a team environment in an intermediate to senior role.
