We are seeking a skilled and reliable Joiner to join our Civils Team. The primary focus of this role will be the construction and installation of shuttering/formwork to support a range of civil engineering activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring high-quality workmanship and maintaining safety standards on site. In addition to shuttering duties, the role will involve supporting the wider civils team with various construction tasks as required. This may include general groundworks, assisting with concrete works, and contributing to the delivery of projects in line with programme and quality expectations.

The ideal candidate will have experience in formwork and shuttering within a construction or civil engineering environment, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and be capable of working both independently and as part of a team. A proactive approach to health, safety, and site compliance is essential. What you'll be doing:

  • Support the Civils Team in the delivery of construction activities, with a primary focus on the construction, installation, and dismantling of shuttering/formwork for concrete works.
  • The role will also involve assisting with a variety of general civil engineering tasks to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Construct, install, and dismantle shuttering and formwork for concrete structures in line with project specifications.
  • Interpret drawings and technical information to ensure accurate construction of formwork.
  • Assist with concrete pours, ensuring shuttering is secure, aligned, and fit for purpose.
  • Support the wider civils team with general site activities, including groundworks and structural works.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail at all times.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with company procedures, health & safety regulations, and site requirements.
  • Conduct routine checks and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with other trades and site personnel to meet programme deadlines.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organised working environment.

What you'll bring:

  • You will bring proven experience as a Joiner, ideally gained within a civil engineering or construction environment, with strong expertise in formwork and shuttering as an essential capability.
  • You are confident in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications, supported by a solid understanding of construction processes and site practices.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, combined with strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail, enables you to deliver high-quality work.
  • You are equally comfortable working independently or as part of a team, consistently contributing to safe, efficient and effective project delivery.

Relevant Joinery qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Carpentry & Joinery or equivalent) CSCS Card (essential) Additional site-related certifications (e.g., PASMA, IPAF) are desirable but not essential Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and in all weather conditions - post specific capability analysis assessment is attached Overtime and flexible working hours may be required to meet project deadlines.
