Cambrex Edinburgh is mainly engaged in the development and testing of materials for pharmaceutical use, submitted by a wide range of clients with products at various stages of drug development. The company is ISO9001 accredited with its core services being solid form screening, crystallisation development and analytical development for a global client base.
As a laboratory technician based in Edinburgh, you will form an important part of our technical team and will provide vital support to the technical team maintaining the highest standards in:
- Equipment maintenance and calibration
- Lab organization
- Sample delivery and analysis
- Working within a quality framework
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily, monthly and ad-hoc calibration of laboratory equipment in line with schedules
- Conduct routine maintenance of non-specialist laboratory equipment
- Manage receipt, control, storage and disposal of laboratory materials and client samples
- Transport of samples to external analysis vendor (local area)
Qualifications / Skills:
- Practical experience in a chemistry laboratory setting (essential)
- Equipment calibration and maintenance e.g., TG/DSC, XRPD, DVS, pH meter, analytical balances, HPLC (desirable)
- Full clean UK driving licence (essential)
- Ability to work safely in a lab environment, adhering to local SHE policies (essential)
- Experience in working independently and within a team (essential)
- Working within ISO9001 quality standards (desirable)
- An enthusiastic team player with excellent communication skills
- Ability and willingness to learn new skills and techniques
- The motivation and the organizational planning tools to manage workload
- Flexibility to adapt to changing workloads and priorities
Qualifications:
- Minimum HND or degree qualification in a relevant scientific field (general chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering) or previously operated in a similar role (essential)
