About the Role
We’re looking for a Freelance Royalties Manager to oversee and manage our entire royalties operation. This includes making sure our artists are paid correctly and on time, handling all cost tracking and recoupment, and being available to answer questions and provide support where needed.
You’ll be responsible for logging into all relevant sales platforms, collecting sales reports, and uploading that data into our royalty system. We currently store our core catalogue and contract data in Airtable, and you’d be working across both our internal tools and royalty platform to ensure reporting is accurate and timely.
You’ll also work directly with artists via our royalties inbox, helping to resolve any payment questions or statement issues. We want someone who can be both detail-focused and artist-friendly.
This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone confident with both the operational detail and artist-facing communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the royalty reporting to NCS artists
- Generate monthly master statements and half-yearly publishing statements
- Work with our Airtable for repertoire management
- Ensure accurate cost tracking, recoupments, and advance deductions
- Ensure artists receive timely notifications and payment updates
- Oversee or manage the royalties@ncs.io inbox (support and queries)
- Support the business with advice on best practice for royalty management and scaling
Ideal Experience
- 3+ years managing music royalties within a label, distributor, or publisher
- Strong understanding of master & publishing income streams and recoupment
- Proficient in Airtable, spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets), and royalty platforms (e.g., Curve, Label Engine)
- Confident handling artist-facing queries and explaining royalty structures clearly
- Detail-oriented with a track record of accurate reporting and statement delivery
To Apply / Send Proposal
Please include:
- Your experience with royalties, especially for independent labels or publishers
- Examples of similar setups or systems you\’ve worked with
- Your availability and proposed rate (day rate or project fee)
- Any initial suggestions or thoughts on our current system
We’re looking to move quickly — if you’d like an export of our data to prepare a proposal, just let us know.
