LOCATION: Bath, GBR
Due to our ongoing growth, we seek exceptional Level 2 Support Engineers with strong Linux skills to join our technical operations team in Bath.
You will work in a shift team responsible for 24/7 monitoring, maintenance, support, and deployment of our unique virtualized store infrastructure software, which is gaining significant traction with retailers globally.
This is a shift-based role, following a “4 on 4 off” pattern.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Responding to emails, calls, and online chats in a positive and friendly manner.
- Documenting customer problems and identifying trend patterns.
- Providing technical IT support to our diverse client base.
- Monitoring live SDS software and infrastructure, troubleshooting issues, and escalating to the Zynstra Operations Team.
- Managing Windows and Linux server operating systems.
- Assisting partners and customers with deploying SDS software.
- Patching and updating operating systems and SDS software on SDS Appliances.
- Performing scheduled IT maintenance tasks.
- Promoting and supporting new products and technologies.
- Managing company desktop and laptops.
- Onboarding new employees: setting up laptops, creating accounts, and orienting new users.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of our products, technologies, and competitors.
- Ensuring high customer satisfaction ratings that meet company standards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in an IT operational support role working with Linux.
- Solid understanding of core internet technologies—Routing/Switching, DNS, DHCP, firewalls.
- Experience in a customer-facing technical role with strong technical aptitude, excellent communication skills, and effective interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to learn and apply new technologies.
Desirable experience with these technologies:
- CheckMK
- Apache
- CouchDB
- Windows operating systems
- Resilient and redundant file systems (preferably ZFS and DRBD, or advanced knowledge of btrfs, LVM, RAID, CEPH, clustering solutions)
- Shell scripting (BASH, Python, Perl, Ruby, PowerShell, etc.)
