Position: Customer Engineer
Location: Bristol, UK
POSITION SUMMARY & KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Installation, maintenance, and repairs on equipment within an assigned territory to ensure continuity of customer operations and high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Work outside of assigned area as needed for projects, coverage, or demand peaks.
- Ownership of customer problems or incidents until resolution, ensuring satisfaction and compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLA).
- Diagnose, repair, and replace components on equipment supported by NCR Voyix, including Point of Sale, Self-service checkout, servers, back-office equipment, handheld terminals, and peripherals.
- Install new or upgrade existing equipment according to the Statement of Work (SOW).
- Assist in site preparation, including cable installation, equipment staging, and testing; perform modular swaps and unit replacements as needed.
- Subject to training and certification, work at heights using ladders, MEWP, and handheld power tools.
- Respond to customer concerns by resolving or escalating issues appropriately.
- Build relationships with customers and develop communication channels at the local level.
- Represent NCR Voyix positively, reflecting the company\’s image and reputation.
- Perform periodic preventive maintenance, diagnose problems, and replace components or modules.
- Manage NCR Voyix assets used in service delivery, including tools, software, vehicles, documentation, and intellectual property.
- Maintain parts inventory and records accurately.
- Report calls, activities, and expenses promptly; capture detailed customer asset information for invoicing or billing.
- Dispatch daily or set own schedule based on reports to meet SLA.
- Prolonged travel, lifting parts up to 50 lbs. (25 kg), and physical activities like bending, walking, standing, or sitting may be required.
- Participate in shift patterns, including weekends and evenings, as per customer and SLA requirements.
- Support night shifts and deployment projects as needed, with additional allowances according to country guidelines.
- Work towards Key Performance Indicators to ensure customer satisfaction, quality, safety, and cost management.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Driver\’s License
- High School Diploma or equivalent, with related experience
- Basic computer skills, including Windows OS and Microsoft Office
- Experience in PC hardware maintenance and support, including desktops, servers, peripherals, routers, networks, switches, hubs
- Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude with high integrity and teamwork support
- Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, overtime, and on-call shifts
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate\’s degree or certifications in a Technology Field preferred
- Previous experience with NCR or similar equipment is advantageous
- Qualifications in Electronics or IT domain preferred
- EPOS maintenance or installation experience preferred; strong desktop hardware experience considered if EPOS is limited
