Mechanical Engineer

Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Location: Dundee

Grade: G11

Responsibilities

• Work on new product developments designing mechanical parts, assemblies and mechanisms – including injection moulded parts, sheet metal parts, castings, turned parts, etc.
• Clearly understand documentation and the ability to work solely on problems as well as within a team environment.
• Must be willing to work to and set high work standards and be a good communicator.
• FMEA experience.
• Module/Platforming/Product architectures.
• Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
• Work with Suppliers throughout project lifecycle.
• Lead electro/mechanical development activities, providing estimates, manufacturing options etc.
• Experience in electro/mechanical product design and working with tooling suppliers and parts manufacturers.
• Working with Industrial design functions to deliver designs as conceived and within the commercial goals.
• Proven track record delivering cost effective designs to specification and engineering standards.
• Supplier engagement and change management.
• Lead design validation via design reviews, stress analysis, assembly tolerances, testing and problem correction CLCA.
• Release work products using the approved system with all relevant documentation required to implement your design change.

Basis Design And Experience

• Experience: Minimum of 7 years related experience.
• Education: BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering (or very similar STEM related discipline) – min 2:1.
• Strong understanding of Mechanical design principles and technologies.
• Good solid experience in previous mechanical engineering roles.
• Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functions teams internally and externally.
• Highly proficient in CAD (Pro/E or Solidworks preferred).
