This is an exciting opportunity to work and gain experience as part of a small team in Dundee, collaborating with other facilities and suppliers in the support, design, evaluation, and testing of devices used in self-service products such as ATMs.
- Support existing media handling products from a mechanical perspective.
- Evaluate different technologies and provide recommendations with analysis.
- Engage in mechanical development activities, providing estimates, manufacturing options, etc.
- Gain experience in the design of mechanisms, working with tooling suppliers and parts manufacturing.
- Deliver cost-effective designs to specifications and engineering standards.
- Engage with suppliers and manage changes effectively.
- Collaborate with engineers from different disciplines for system-wide integration.
- Conduct design reviews, stress analysis, tolerancing, testing, and problem correction.
- Release work products with all necessary documentation to implement design changes.
Basic Qualifications
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering (Hons 2:1 or better preferred).
- Strong desire to learn new mechanical design principles and technologies.
- Relevant university project or work experience.
- Knowledge of design of mechanisms, reliability, climatic considerations, simulation/FEA, and design of experiments.
- Ability to work on problems and within a team, with good communication skills.
- Understanding of plastic molding, sheet metal fabrication, parts manufacture, and tooling.
- Proficiency in CAD software (ProE/Creo or SolidWorks).
- Experience with 2D drawings, dimensioning, and tolerancing.
- Aware of stress and tolerance analysis.
- Familiarity with rapid prototyping technologies.
- Willingness to travel globally for support or analysis.
