This is an exciting opportunity to work and gain experience as part of a small team in Dundee, collaborating with other facilities and suppliers in the support, design, evaluation, and testing of devices used in self-service products such as ATMs.

  • Support existing media handling products from a mechanical perspective.
  • Evaluate different technologies and provide recommendations with analysis.
  • Engage in mechanical development activities, providing estimates, manufacturing options, etc.
  • Gain experience in the design of mechanisms, working with tooling suppliers and parts manufacturing.
  • Deliver cost-effective designs to specifications and engineering standards.
  • Engage with suppliers and manage changes effectively.
  • Collaborate with engineers from different disciplines for system-wide integration.
  • Conduct design reviews, stress analysis, tolerancing, testing, and problem correction.
  • Release work products with all necessary documentation to implement design changes.

Basic Qualifications

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering (Hons 2:1 or better preferred).
  • Strong desire to learn new mechanical design principles and technologies.
  • Relevant university project or work experience.
  • Knowledge of design of mechanisms, reliability, climatic considerations, simulation/FEA, and design of experiments.
  • Ability to work on problems and within a team, with good communication skills.
  • Understanding of plastic molding, sheet metal fabrication, parts manufacture, and tooling.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (ProE/Creo or SolidWorks).
  • Experience with 2D drawings, dimensioning, and tolerancing.
  • Aware of stress and tolerance analysis.
  • Familiarity with rapid prototyping technologies.
  • Willingness to travel globally for support or analysis.
