Ncounter is supporting the growth of a specialist technology consultancy delivering complex architecture and transformation programmes across Defence and secure government environments. We are looking for experienced Data and Solution Architects, with opportunities for people who combine strong technical judgement with the ability to work closely with clients and delivery teams.

This is a hands-on consulting position where you will help shape architecture across complex programmes, translating operational and technical challenges into practical solutions. Depending on your background, your work could span data, information, solution and wider enterprise architecture, with responsibility for taking ideas from early discovery and options analysis through design, governance and delivery.

The role will involve:

  • Developing current and target architectures across complex technology environments
  • Producing architecture principles, standards, roadmaps, solution designs and technical assessments
  • Leading workshops and working with senior technical, operational and non-technical stakeholders
  • Supporting architecture governance, assurance and decision-making
  • Solving integration, data-sharing and technology challenges across organisational and system boundaries
  • Providing technical leadership across multidisciplinary and multi-supplier programmes

We are looking for:

  • Strong experience within Solution, Data, Information or Enterprise Architecture
  • Previous delivery within Defence, Central Government or similarly complex secure environments
  • Experience owning architecture activity rather than purely providing advisory support
  • Strong stakeholder management and the confidence to explain complex technical decisions clearly
  • Knowledge of architecture frameworks and tooling such as TOGAF, MODAF, ArchiMate or BizzDesign would be useful
  • Exposure to cloud, systems integration, APIs, data governance or modern data-sharing approaches would be advantageous

Highly experienced candidates should bring additional experience leading complex assignments, influencing senior stakeholders and guiding other architects.

Candidates must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance, with assignments requiring a mixture of client-site and remote working.

If you are an experienced architect looking for varied, high-impact Defence work with genuine ownership over technical direction and delivery, contact Ncounter to discuss the opportunity.
