Ncounter is supporting the growth of a well-established technology business looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to join its London-based team. This is a broad, genuinely hands-on infrastructure position, suited to someone who enjoys taking ownership of problems rather than working within a narrow technical remit.
You will support a predominantly on-premise environment across Linux and Windows, alongside some AWS infrastructure, networking, virtualisation and corporate technology. The role ranges from troubleshooting complex server or build issues through to supporting users, managing access, patching systems and keeping the wider estate running reliably.
What you'll be doing:
- Managing and troubleshooting Linux and Windows infrastructure
- Supporting Active Directory, domain controllers, permissions and user access
- Working with Cisco networking, DNS, DHCP and wider connectivity issues
- Managing virtualised environments, provisioning, resources and system maintenance
- Investigating infrastructure issues affecting software engineering and build environments
- Supporting hardware, SaaS platforms, licensing and technology provisioning
- Contributing to infrastructure improvements, technical decisions and the longer-term roadmap
- Working alongside Information Security on ISO27001, SOC2, audit activity, logging and security improvements
What we're looking for:
You'll ideally have 3+ years' experience within a broad Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Engineer or similar position. Strong Linux knowledge is important, alongside practical Windows Active Directory experience and a good grounding in networking. You do not need to know every technology in the environment. More important is the ability to investigate unfamiliar problems, learn quickly and manage your own workload without needing constant direction.
Experience with AWS, VMware or Hyper-V, automation, SIEM tooling, MDM/EDR platforms or security and compliance environments would all be useful additions.
There is a light out-of-hours requirement, typically one weekend per month within a shared patching rota, with time back in lieu. The role offers hybrid working from London alongside pension contributions, private medical insurance and a strong wider benefits package.
