Ncounter are supporting a specialist engineering organisation delivering highly secure software systems within the UK national security sector. This opportunity will suit engineers who enjoy solving complex technical problems, working within highly secure environments, and contributing to software that supports genuinely important missions.

The ability and willingness to work onsite in the West of England four to five days per week is essential. The organisation places particular value on strong software engineering fundamentals, curiosity, and a willingness to work across multiple technologies. Engineers are encouraged to contribute across the stack rather than remaining within a narrow technical specialism.

- Java and modern backend development
- RESTful API development and integration
- Kubernetes and container platforms
- GitLab and CI/CD pipelines
- Distributed systems and cloud-native applications
- Observability and monitoring technologies
- Database and messaging technologies
- Secure software engineering and DevSecOps practices
The environment offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers within a collaborative and low-ego culture. Around 10% of working time is dedicated to training and development, including external courses, innovation projects, and personal development activities.
Package highlights:
- 10% employer pension contribution
- Genuine investment in technical development
- Flexible start and finish times
- Strong work-life balance
