Key Responsibilities
Software Development
Plan, design, and implement secure, scalable APIs and backend services
Write testable, modular, and extensible code following established standards
Optimise application performance and support high‑availability requirements
Contribute to system design decisions and architectural discussions
Participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices
Cloud & Infrastructure
Support the migration of services from GCP to AWS
Work with containerised applications using Kubernetes and Docker
Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines
Collaboration & Quality
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand business requirements and deliver technical solutions
Contribute to the development of team best practices and standards
Incorporate automated testing into development workflow
Mentor junior team members and share technical knowledge
Requirements
Essential
5+ years of software engineering experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Strong experience with at least one JVM‑based language (Kotlin or Java)
Demonstrable experience building secure, scalable backend solutions
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred, GCP or Azure acceptable)
Proficiency with containerisation (Kubernetes, Docker)
Strong understanding of RESTful API design and microservice architecture
Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL)
Proficiency with version control (Git) and CI/CD practices
Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently and in teams
Excellent communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders
Desired
Experience with TypeScript/Node.js backend development
Experience with PHP
Familiarity with data engineering concepts: ETL processes, data pipelines, data modelling
Experience with Databricks, PySpark, or Airflow
Knowledge of GraphQL
Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
Experience mentoring engineers
