Job Description
NCIMB Ltd are advertising for a Molecular Scientist. This role will be part of our Sequencing Team providing cGMP Microbial Identification and a next generation sequencing service to external clients. The ideal candidate will be educated to BSc or MSc level in microbiology or other biological discipline with some laboratory experience in a commercial setting. Experience of DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing and bioinformatics would be an advantage as well as working in an ISO 9001 or cGMP environment.Â

We supply, identify, characterise, quantify and store microorganisms to support our customers in the pharmaceutical, food & drink and biotechnology and energy sectors, as well as carrying out research and development projects.Â

The main role of a Molecular Scientist is to carry out the sequencing processes necessary to provide an accurate and reliable identification service within the requested timescale for internal and external customers.

Responsibilities and Duties:
·        Co-operating in the efficient running of the identification service
·        Undertake Molecular Identification analysis as directed and to the satisfaction of customers
·        Commitment to the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) as incorporated into the quality management system of the company.Â
·        Responsible for contributing to safe working environment by complying with laboratory codes of practice.
·        Learning new techniques as required
·        Communication with clients and suppliers by mail, telephone and in person
·        Ordering consumables, maintaining inventories and discarding expired materials
·        Carrying out routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment
·        Using relevant software to process data prepare reports.
·        This list of duties is not exhaustive and you may be required to undertake other reasonable duties from time to time
