Southwark College, part of NCG, is looking to recruit an ESOL lecturer to teach on ESOL courses. Based at our Southwark College site, close to Waterloo Station, the successful candidates will be part of a large ESOL team, responsible for facilitating the linguistic development, empowerment and integration of a diverse community of Young ESOL learners as part of the 16 - 18 Study Programme. We have excellent resources and a modern suite of classrooms.
Role and responsibilities:
- To teach ESOL 16 - 18 years old students using a variety of teaching methods and tools.
- To contribute to the review, planning and development of the ESOL curriculum at Southwark College.
- To work with the ESOL team to develop Schemes of Learning, lesson plans, teaching materials and immersive experiences.
- To work with the ESOL team to devise and implement a range of assessment for learning strategies.
- To assess student work and provide a variety of feedback to support learners to develop their skills and maximise their potential.
- To contribute to the ESOL strategies to improve student achievement and retention.

What you'll do:
- Plan and deliver learning: Design and deliver inclusive, high-quality lessons. Create engaging learning materials tailored to diverse learner needs. Provide clear, constructive feedback to support learner progress.
- Support learner development: Guide academic and personal development through tutorials and pastoral care. Maintain accurate records of learner progress and engagement.
- Enhance curriculum and quality: Keep course content current and aligned with industry standards. Contribute to curriculum development and quality assurance processes.
- Collaborate and uphold standards: Work with colleagues and external partners to enrich the learner experience. Promote and uphold safeguarding, equality, and health and safety policies.
What we're looking for:
- A relevant subject qualification (e.g. degree or equivalent).
- A recognised teaching qualification.
- Level 2 English and Maths (e.g. GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent).
- The ability to plan and deliver effective, inclusive teaching for diverse learners.
- Knowledge of subject-specific pedagogy and current teaching practices in further or higher education.
- Clear communication and strong organisational skills.
- Confidence using digital tools to support learning.
- A commitment to safeguarding, equality, and ongoing professional development.
As part of Southwark College's ESOL provision within the 16-18 Study Programme, the successful candidate will teach young learners from diverse backgrounds, focusing on language development, integration, and empowerment. The lecturer will also collaborate with the ESOL team to implement varied assessment strategies and provide constructive feedback to support learner progress. This position is based at Southwark College's centrally located site near Waterloo Station, offering access to modern classrooms and excellent teaching resources.
