We are seeking an experienced and motivated SIA Door Supervisor & Employability Tutor to join our Adult Skills & Education Employability Department at Southwark College. The successful candidate will deliver SIA Door Supervisor training alongside employability skills, supporting adult learners to gain the knowledge, confidence and professional behaviours needed to progress into employment within the private security sector.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver engaging, compliant SIA Door Supervisor training, including First Aid, Conflict Management and Physical Intervention ensuring all training meets awarding body and SIA regulatory standards.
- Teach embedded employability skills, including CV writing, interview preparation, professional conduct and workplace expectations.
- Plan lessons, create resources, assess learners and provide constructive feedback.
- Support adult learners from diverse backgrounds with information, advice, guidance and employability skills.
- Contribute to learner progress, achievement and employment outcomes.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive and professional learning environment.
- Promote professional behaviour, safeguarding and progression into employment.
- Teaching qualification at Level 3 or above.
- Valid SIA Door Supervisor licence and minimum 3 years’ industry experience.
- Experience delivering SIA‑approved security training to adults.
- Level 3 Conflict Management qualification and experience delivering scenario‑based training.
- Level 3 Physical Intervention qualification trainer approval.
- Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification (in date).
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to high‑quality teaching and learner success.
- CCTV training experience.
- Assessor or IQA qualifications (TAQA).
- Plan and deliver learning.
- Design and deliver inclusive, high‑quality lessons.
- Create engaging learning materials tailored to diverse learner needs.
- Provide clear, constructive feedback to support learner progress.
- Support learner development.
- Guide academic and personal development through tutorials and pastoral care.
- Maintain accurate records of learner progress and engagement.
- Enhance curriculum and quality.
- Keep course content current and aligned with industry standards.
- Contribute to curriculum development and quality assurance processes.
- Collaborate and uphold standards.
- Work with colleagues and external partners to enrich the learner experience.
- Promote and uphold safeguarding, equality and health and safety policies.
- A relevant subject qualification (e.g. degree or equivalent).
- A recognised teaching qualification.
- Level 2 English and Maths (e.g. GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent).
- The ability to plan and deliver effective, inclusive teaching for diverse learners.
- Knowledge of subject‑specific pedagogy and current teaching practices in further or higher education.
- Clear communication and strong organisational skills.
- Confidence using digital tools to support learning.
- A commitment to safeguarding, equality and ongoing professional development.
As part of Southwark College’s ESOL provision within the 16‑18 Study Programme, the successful candidate will teach young learners from diverse backgrounds, focusing on language development, integration and empowerment. The role involves contributing to the design and delivery of the ESOL curriculum, including developing Schemes of Learning, lesson plans and immersive learning experiences tailored to this age group. The lecturer will also collaborate with the ESOL team to implement varied assessment strategies and provide constructive feedback to support learner progress. This position is based at Southwark College’s centrally located site near Waterloo Station, offering access to modern classrooms and excellent teaching resources.
