Role Description:
The Lecturer in Criminology and Policing will be responsible for the planning, delivery and assessment of high-quality Level 2 and Level 3 provision, drawing on subjects such as criminology, policing, law and psychology. They will design engaging and inclusive lessons that promote critical thinking, contextual understanding and academic progress, ensuring schemes of work align with awarding body requirements. Through effective teaching and the use of stretch and challenge, the lecturer will support learners to reach their full potential and develop independence in their studies. The role includes assessing learner work, providing timely and constructive feedback, and using data to monitor progress and implement targeted support where needed. The lecturer will maintain accurate records and contribute to internal and external quality assurance processes, ensuring standards are met consistently. A strong focus will be placed on developing learners' knowledge, skills and behaviours, including professionalism, communication, ethical awareness and resilience, to support progression into further study or employment. Working closely with industry professionals across the criminal justice sector, the lecturer will help ensure the curriculum remains current and relevant. This will involve building partnerships, integrating real-world perspectives into teaching and creating opportunities for learners to engage with practitioners. The successful candidate will also collaborate with colleagues, contribute to curriculum development and demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding, equality and continuous professional development.
