Role Description
Newcastle College is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and qualified professional to take on the role of Lecturer in Hospitality & Catering. The successful candidate will deliver and assess high-quality programmes within our catering provision, tailored to meet the needs of hospitality students.
The role includes programme administrative responsibilities to ensure effective course management. A key focus will be supporting learners in developing employability skills relevant to the industry, promoting independence, and preparing them for progression into further and higher education and employment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong vocational background in the hospitality & catering industry, with proven experience in developing learners\’ technical and employability skills. They should hold an honours degree (Level 6) or an industry-recognised qualification in professional cookery or related fields, along with a post-16 teaching qualification or a commitment to attain it within an agreed timeframe. Level 2 English and maths qualifications are essential, or willingness to attain them. Proven experience in delivering vocational training programmes with a focus on progression and learner success is required.
The lecturer will plan and deliver practical and theory sessions that meet diverse student needs, assessing abilities and providing personalised support. They will monitor student progress, provide feedback, and adapt teaching strategies to improve outcomes. Motivating students and fostering an inclusive learning environment are key responsibilities. Collaboration with parents, guardians, and staff will be essential for student success.
