Overview

We’re seeking an experienced Chief Moderator to oversee the moderation of the NCFE Level 1/2 Technical Award in Graphic Design (603/7011/7) on a flexible worker contract. Location: Remote.

The purpose of moderation is to check that centres are correctly and consistently assessing student work and that the materials submitted for moderation meet the required standard. As Chief Moderator you\’ll be expected to make a judgement on the accuracy and validity of the provider and moderators\’ assessment decisions by continuously analysing data and evidence which forms part of the quality process in order to ensure qualification and regulatory compliance. Moderation will begin in March and end in August 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Recruiting, training and performance managing a team of Moderators across the relevant sector area
  • Ensuring that quality assurance and moderation is delivered in line with qualification and customer requirements
  • Ensuring the moderation team remains compliant with all regulatory conditions relating to moderation of centre assessments
  • Coordinating the day to day activities of the moderation team throughout the moderation window

Qualifications / Requirements

  • A minimum of a level 3 qualification in the graphic design subject area
  • Evidence of at least 3 years working within the graphic design sector
  • Qualifications in assessment and internal quality assurance
  • Knowledge and management of moderation processes
  • Experience managing a team of moderators
  • Excellent report writing skills
