This is an opportunity for an experienced Storeperson to join a leading switchgear manufacturer at a point of real growth. Stores sits at the heart of our production process, and we are looking for someone who takes genuine pride in stock accuracy, tidy locations and getting the right material to the shop floor at the right time. Reporting to the Stores Lead, you will own the day-to-day running of goods in, picking, returns and stock checking, and play a key part as we introduce barcoding across the business.
Duties are a combination of, but not limited to;
- Receiving material in, checking incoming documentation and verifying goods delivered against delivery paperwork
- Booking material onto the stock system and shelving stock in the correct locations
- Issuing material to the shop floor through the Stores pick process
- Processing Stores returns and putting stock back into location correctly
- Carrying out stock checks and perpetual inventory counts, investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Running the Stores counter, issuing consumables and parts to the shop floor over the counter
- Maintaining stock accuracy and keeping stock records up to date on the Sage 200 ERP system
- Packing and preparing goods for despatch
- Operating counterbalance and reach forklift trucks safely within the stores and yard areas
- Keeping the stores area clean, tidy and well organised, with stock stored safely and correctly labelled
- Ensuring safe and environmentally sound working practices are adhered to at all times
- Supporting the Stores Lead with all aspects of the stores process, including the ongoing rollout of barcoding across stock
Skills and Attributes:
- A valid reach forklift truck licence is essential
- Previous experience working in a stores or warehouse environment is essential, ideally four years or more
- Confident using a computer to maintain stock records accurately on an ERP system is essential
- Good attention to detail, particularly when checking deliveries against paperwork and counting stock
- A valid counterbalance forklift truck licence is desirable
- An organised approach to keeping stock locations accurate and tidy
- Able to work well as part of a small team and communicate clearly with the shop floor
- A strong awareness of health, safety and environmental responsibilities within a manufacturing environment
- Experience of Sage 200 or other ERP system is desirable
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word is desirable
- Previous experience within an electrical, engineering or manufacturing environment is desirable
- Experience of barcoding or scanning-based stock control is desirable
