Experienced and well qualified commercial electrician to join our expanding team in the Northampton and surrounding areas. The successful candidate will have experience working on a variety of commercial sites/systems. You must be capable of diagnosing and fixing faults, completing repairs and minor installations/upgrades, and EICR's as this will mostly comprise your daily tasks. You must also be computer literate and be able to learn and use client reporting portals and complete electrical certification accurately. You will require minimal supervision, be flexible to accommodate workloads, of smart appearance with a can-do attitude and have a great safety culture.

The work will include:

  • Diagnose and repair faults on commercial electrical systems within multiple sites
  • Electrical PPM
  • Minor installations and upgrades to commercial electrical systems
  • EICR's
  • Use your knowledge of regs to complete all work and make recommendations in compliance with IEE wiring regs and NICEIC recommendations
  • Completion of certification, reporting and client portal updating

This is a mobile role. Your days will be varied, and you will be undertaking a mixture of electrical works on varied sites. Some days will be testing; others call outs or planned repairs/refurbishment. You will travel across your area and mostly work alone. You will report to our operations team and draw technical support from your area supervisor or technical managers. The role and your experience will evolve over time, and you will be expected to willingly accept the training offered to enhance your capabilities.

You will have good technical knowledge evidenced by industry recognised qualifications. You must be capable of completing all the tasks described above so we envisage experience in a similar role of no less than five years. You will be a good communicator with computer literacy and good organisational skills. You must enthusiastically embrace our health and safety culture and our training/personal development programmes. You will be able to manage your time efficiently and be capable of working on your own initiative. You will be expected to deliver a first-time fix with very few exceptions so both technical expertise and experience are vital for success in this role. Overtime is available to meet the demands of the role, and you will normally be expected to complete same day fix or completion within planned timeframe without the need for return visits. You must also participate in the on-call rota providing out of hours cover to your area for one week including weekend in every five weeks with a paid on-call standby fee and overtime (if called upon).

Essential Criteria:

  • 5+ years' experience working on commercial systems in a similar role
  • Fully qualified including C&G 2391 Inspect & test and 2382 (18th edition)
  • Comprehensive understanding of IEE regs and NICEIC guidelines
  • Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 points)

Desirable Criteria:

  • Asbestos Awareness
  • Manual Handling, Working at Height, Safe use Steps and Ladders
  • First aid qualification
  • IPAF / Pasma qualification
  • H&S qualifications, CITB SSSTs
  • CSCS card
  • Knowledge of fire alarm systems
