Overview
NCC – Bristol based with hybrid working (3 days per week in office).
Salary: £36,068 to £53,381 per annum plus 12.5% employer pension, private medical insurance and additional benefits package.

Summary
We’re looking for a Network Engineer to join our expanding team, supporting an exciting upcoming network refresh programme. You’ll work within a small Network Engineering team who work closely together and we’ve got a great working atmosphere here at NCC.
Reporting directly to Security & Networking Manager you’ll manage the day-to-day support of our current network and supporting infrastructure. Typically, this includes the identification, diagnoses, and resolution of network and security issues in collaboration with the IT security analyst & manager.
You’ll get the opportunity to support BAU and project-based work. We’re big on training! You’ll be supported to continually develop your professional skills and technical knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Networking (business as usual) support – e.g. port re-configuration, fault finding, managing warranty incidents, software upgrades, provide IT networking expertise on current state NCC IT network infrastructure for all IT internal projects and business projects, including hardware, software, licensing and infrastructure
- Act as technical point of contact for external suppliers on network BAU related activity, giving them the required guidance and challenge to deliver NCCs requirements in a cost effective and timely manner.
- Use network management systems software and appropriate analysis equipment to collect routine network load statistics, model performance, and create reports, including proposals for improvement.
- Provide expertise to assist in the resolution of incidents and major incidents.
- Supporting with network security certification.
- Work closely with the IT Security function.
- Operate within a framework of Continual Service Improvement.
Project related work
- Supporting our future defence sector related network projects
- Support the delivery of network and security projects and BAU activity to meet IT & business priorities e.g. deploying additional switching, firewalls, authentication, Wi-Fi, IOT.
- Working with other IT teams & partners, for the delivery of secure configurations for cloud and other systems integrations e.g. Azure, M365, customer or 3rd party partner systems.
- Supporting the wider team in implementing and testing IT solutions for the IT future state. This could include working with the procurement team, supporting project documentation, or reviewing future state solutions.
- Produce and maintain comprehensive documentation.
Qualifications and experience
- Proven experience of working in networking and/or security roles.
- Sole British National and willingness to undergo DV level security clearances.
- CCNA or equivalent vendor certification.
- Experience of most recent technical developments in Networking hardware & software, e.g. software defined networks.
- Demonstrable knowledge of:
- Enterprise networking
- L2 / L3 concepts
- High availability protocols
- Next generation firewalls
- Network monitoring tools
- Network troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark
- VPN & Remote Access
- Wireless Administration
