NCC has successfully expanded our business over the last couple of years. Our Business Growth team have supported a wide range of SMEs with a variety of interesting projects across Civil, Energy, Space, Marine and Technology sectors to name a few. We believe this is a great time to capitalise on the good work we’ve delivered and generate further positive industry engagement.
With a focus on translating industry engagement to impactful customer activity, you’ll develop campaigns to engage SMEs, start-ups, scale ups and also those involved in tier 1 & 2 supply chain customers. Working within the wider NCC ‘Business Growth’ strategy, you’ll take full ownership and accountability for all campaigns and business development activity.
This role would suit someone with a combination of experience relating to campaign management, business development within the manufacturing industry, some business analysis background and an appreciation of Engineering or Technology development. This role is coming about due to a retirement in the team.
Specifically, you’ll:
- Lead the development and delivery of customer campaigns aligned to our strategic priorities, identifying and building relationships with high-growth potential businesses.
- Identify and build relationships with high growth potential businesses.
- Support the interface between technology/engineering excellence and business growth, including investment.
- Lead the Business Growth annual events campaign ensuring appropriate preparation and representation at target events, ensuring productive engagements and timely follow ups.
- Establish a clear event engagement success metric to inform future planning.
- Manage relationships and develop systems and processes.
What we’ll look for in your application:
- Background in fields such as engineering, R&D or manufacturing industries.
- Business Development experience using structured campaign approach. Track record of successful campaign development and delivery.
- Manufacturing or Engineering background and an understanding of the difficulties SMEs face in this space.
- Awareness of UK funding and business support landscape including investments, debt finance and government funding.
- Data driven approach – experience of business assessment tools for example: SWOT, PESTEL, PORTER.
- Experience working with manufacturing organisations and awareness of challenges specific to their growth phase (Startup, Scaleup, Supply chain).
We help manufacturers take on bigger challenges - whether that is building cleaner aircraft, scaling up offshore wind, or strengthening the UK’s supply chains. We are here to deliver practical outcomes, not prototypes that sit on shelves.
We work across 16 sectors, from defence and energy to infrastructure and space. Some projects are with global tier 1s, others with small UK firms solving one specific problem. The work is always varied, and always real.
We are not a startup or a corporate entity. We are a national centre with the kit, time and people to do the job properly. The teams are focused, the thinking is sharp, and you will be trusted to get on with it.
This role is not just internal support. It is delivering nationally important work. If we do our job right, the UK’s manufacturers can do theirs better.
What do we offer in return?
- Hybrid and flexible working patterns as standard.
- Annual salary reviews.
- Company paid private medical insurance.
- Up to 12.5% employer pension contribution.
