We’re Hiring: CAM Engineer – AFP/ATL Programming Specialist

Bristol, UK | Full-time | Advanced Composites Manufacturing

Do you specialise in programming Automated Fibre Placement (AFP) or Automated Tape Laying (ATL) systems? Want to apply your skills at the cutting edge of composite manufacturing?

Join the National Composites Centre (NCC) as a CAM Engineer, and help shape the future of high-performance composite structures for aerospace, automotive, clean energy, and beyond.

What you’ll do:

• Create, optimise, and validate AFP/ATL layup programs for complex composite components
• Use advanced CAM tools such as CATIA, CADFiber, CATFiber, and Vericut Composites to support toolpath generation, simulation, and digital validation
• Collaborate with design, materials, and manufacturing teams to bring advanced composite designs to life
• Support both industrial projects and R&D programmes focused on next-gen composite manufacturing methods
• Work with state-of-the-art robotic and gantry-based deposition systems in our world-class facilities

What we’re looking for:

• Experience in programming AFP/ATL systems for composite part production
• Proficiency with CAM and simulation software, Ideally CATIA (V5/V6), CADFiber, CATFiber, and/or Vericut Composites.
• Solid understanding of composite materials, fibre paths, plybooks, and defect control
• Knowledge of manufacturing constraints and best practices for automated layup
• A proactive, team-oriented approach and a drive to solve complex engineering challenges
