Please note: This role will require travel to our on-site Data Centre in Manchester. As a TechOps Engineer, your role is to facilitate the management/extension of the systems and platforms used internally to deliver consultant services to our customers. This is a technical hands-on role which requires a broad range of technical skills and overlaps between infrastructure/networking/linux. Utilising automation and infrastructure as code principles you will aid in the development and architecture of both new and existing systems. On occasion, there may be planned and unplanned out of hours work therefore, flexibility is key. In this role you will be a key member of a small and dynamic global team based primarily in the UK but also other regions, with opportunities to be exposed to new technologies and methods for ensuring reliable and secure IT operations.
Key Responsibilities
- To maintain (patch/troubleshoot/document) and monitor physical and virtual network/server/cloud infrastructure environments with a strong focus on security.
- Diagnosis and resolution of issues in accordance with published SLA's and in a customer focused manner.
- Lead the design and architectural development of IT systems, collaborating closely with departments and stakeholders to oversee the creation of complex global IT solutions.
- Mentor team members, sharing invaluable experience and expertise.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Previous experience working in a TechOps/Infrastructure Engineer role or similar technical IT role.
- Demonstrably comfortable working on own initiative and as part of a larger team.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to fix issues.
- Confident in applying security hardening to various infrastructure components.
- Proficient Linux administration capability (e.g Ubuntu/Debian/RHEL).
- Automation using Ansible.
- Virtualisation (e.g VMWare/KVM/XEN/On Prem Cloud).
- Scripting (e.g Bash/Python/PHP/etc).
- Networking (Switching/Routing/Firewalling/Proxy/VPN).
- Enterprise Monitoring/Logging.
- Version Control using Git.
- Containerisation (e.g Docker/Docker-Compose/Podman/LXC).
- Enterprise Storage (e.g SAN/DAS/NAS/Raid/FDE/SED).
- Previous Datacenter experience.
- Enterprise Backups (e.g Veeam).
- Enterprise Server Hardware experience (Dell/HP).
- Security Mindset (System Hardening/Application Security Tooling).
- Windows Server / Domain Knowledge.

- OpenVPN.
- IAM (SSO/SAML/OIDC/Privileged Access Management).
- Linux Filesystems (e.g EXT/BTRFS/XFS/ZFS/LVM).
